The Future Mobility Network is proud to be Treebuddy! In the summer of 2022, the first trees were planted and now over 500 trees are already growing on behalf of FMN on the Natuna Islands in Indonesia. In addition, with at least 20 years of good care ahead! Treebuddy is a global tree planting and long-term care service. As Future Mobility Network, we want to get to a sustainable future for mobility as soon as possible, but in the meantime, we are already making an impact in other areas.
At Treebuddy, you can have a tree planted with 20 years of guaranteed care by local communities. The trees are also photographed at intervals and updated on the map, for which local people receive support each time. This allows us to transparently contribute to reforestation and contribute to local communities.
The ‘Joop Veenis.’ Just like everyone at FMN, one of the founders has also had a tree named after him.
Currently, all of our trees are planted on the Natuna Islands in Indonesia. They are all red mangroves (Rizophora mangel), specially chosen to sustainably contribute to local biodiversity. It is a super tree that provides shelter and food for the Kekah Natuna monkeys, an endangered species found only on these islands. The trees are photographed after 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 years, allowing us to see our trees grow with our own eyes. The local community that maintains the trees receives a financial compensation for each photo, which means they are also supported financially for a longer period of time.
