Touchdown! No, not a game American football was played at the Future Mobility Park on May 24th, but for the first time, a drone landed at the park’s unique vertiport, the Galileo stop M4H.
It had been in the works for a while, but during the Rotterdam Upstream festival, it finally became a reality: the first drone landing at the vertiport (or droneport) of FMP. With the interest of specialists from the drone industry, the DJI Matrice 300 landed precisely at 12:31 on the vertiport. It was then officially inaugurated with a decisive ribbon cut by Jouke Goslina (Program Director of RDM Rotterdam). Other speakers included Lucien Linders, Director of the FMP, and Tsjerk Kooistra, CEO of the Dutch Drone Company.
Below is an impression of the event in photos. Read here the interview with our expert in the field, Robin, to learn more about the droneport and its future possibilities.
The landing was made possible thanks to a fantastic partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, the Municipality of Rotterdam, DDC – Smart Inspections, the Province of South Holland, and Bayards Vertiports. The Future Mobility Park is one step closer to facilitating drone flights between two locations in a complex environment of city, airport, and port.
