Digital infrastructure

We are all familiar with physical infrastructure, but did you know that there is also a digital infrastructure? By making the infrastructure smarter with sensors, for example, we build a digital infrastructure that can communicate with projects in public spaces.

Within the theme of digital infrastructure, we do a lot of research in the way in which the digital infrastructure communicates with objects and vehicles in public spaces. Together with our partners, we carry out these studies and perform tests at Future Mobility Park.

With our studies into digital infrastructure, we want to find out how we can integrate automatic systems with sensors, cameras or smart traffic signs. All this with the aim of making the environment safer and more livable.

Coding the Curbs

With Coding the Curbs, we realized the first SmartZone in Europe in Utrecht. This smart zone comes in the form of a digital coding board with a booking system. Users can reserve a spot in advance, for example for loading and unloading, whereby users do not have to drive continuously in search of a place.

Automated mobility

There is a lot of experimentation with automated transport. Yet driving without human supervision is not yet possible. This is partly because traffic situations are often complex. In order to make autonomous transport possible in the future, we are investigating opportunities to make the infrastructure more intelligent and to facilitate communication between transport and infrastructure.

Zero emission zone Delft

Client: Gemeente Delft
To our great pride, we were asked to assist in a project in our own hometown of Delft. Gradually, the municipality is introducing zero-emission zones. As a so-called 'friendly co-pilot', we assisted in this.
