New Ferry in Koudenhoorn

In 2021, we already sailed with a ferry to the island. That was such a success that we decided to sail with an even larger and faster electric ferry in 2022: Ferry Solution.

What we do

Recreation island of Koudenhoorn had only one busy access road. To keep the island accessible, an additional access option was needed. In 2021, we already sailed with a ferry to the island. That was such a success that we decided to sail with an even larger and faster electric ferry in 2022: Ferry Solution.

Why we do this

This sailing year, we partnered with Next Generation Shipyards to provide a newer, larger Ferry that can sail faster. Last year, the focus of the project was on autonomous sailing and we sailed for free. This year, we wanted to test the willingness to pay and people could make the crossing for a small fee. It was even possible – as the first pound in the world ever – to pay with crypto. When completing a short questionnaire, the crossing was free.

The result

Thanks to the ferry connection, the island is easily accessible. The ferry was used a lot again this year and we learn a lot from the people who filled in the questionnaire. People are very happy with the Ferry and are willing to pay about two euros.
